Rosso Di Montepulciano DOC
This wine region, together with Brunello di Montepulciano and certain top Chianti estates is considered one of the best wines in Tuscany. The estate is run on almost biodynamic lines, Interestingly there is a Etruscan
tomb in the barrel aging cellar.
Located South East of Siena, it is another area of rolling hills and valleys. Vineyards here are located at between 250 and 600m above sea level. The hilltop town of Montepulciano dominates the area, and has a wonderful pastry shop in the centre.
Tre Bicchieri status from the Italian guide, Gambero Rosso
Ruby red with flavors of plum and blackberry, a beautiful floral of red flowers, an undergrowth background and spicy touches. Soft, medium-bodied with a pleasant note of freshness: a fresh, fruity, crisp Rosso di Montepulciano
Made from 80% Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile), 15% Colorino, Canaiolo, and Mammolo. The grapes are hand harvested. The wine spends 15/20 days on the skins macerating at controlled temperature. This Rosso di Montepulciano from Il Conventino is able to best enhance the strong union between the Tuscan winemaking tradition and the modern winemaking methods of organic farming. Here the native grapes prove, once again, that they can give wines of the highest quality that speak of passion, belonging and innovation. Vinified in steel vats, aged first in Slavonian oak barrels and then for 3 months in the bottle, this full-bodied wine surprises for its very pleasant nose and marked freshness: you can appreciate every sip.
