Domaine Albert Morot
Beaune Bressandes 1er Cru

2017

$888.00 ($74.00 per bottle)

91 Points

Generous wood and menthol fight somewhat with the elegant and manifestly cool nose that displays essence of various red berries, humus and appealing floral hints. The middle weight flavors aren't quite as dense, but they're finer still with a succulent mid-palate before concluding in a naturally sweet, dusty and balanced finish that flashes a touch of youthful austerity. Lovely stuff and particularly so thanks to the relatively fine-grained tannins. Score - 91. (Allen Meadows, burghound.com, April 15, 2018)

This 1.27-hectare plot (3 acres) is located in the middle of the slope with a south-easterly exposure. Its soil enjoys a good balance of limestone, loams and clay. The plot may be named for a previous owner – a 13th-century canon, Johannis Bressand. The Aloxe-Corton Les Bressandes Climat is thought to have belonged to three elderly spinsters originally from Bresse. In the mouth, these very subtle wines present a dense, bold body and beautiful silkiness. They go well with roast meat, some fish (roast monkfish with bacon, etc), and some cheeses (eg Cîteaux, Saint Nectaire, Reblochon).
