The Grati family have been winegrowers in Tuscany's Chianti Rufina region for five generations. Their 15th Century villa, Villa di Vetrice, located just east of Florence, is the centre and soul of their farm. The family's 100 hectares of vineyards are planted on clay and calcareous marl soils and situated in a unique and very important north/south oriented valley. This allows cool winds from the north to flow down the valley, creating the diurnal temperature variation conditions needed to make balanced and vibrant wines. The family's plantings are predominantly Sangiovese but also include native Tuscan grapes Canaiolo, Colorino and Malvasia. The wines are elegant, flavourful and loaded with Tuscan charm. In addition to producing world class wines, the family also cultivates olive oil from the roughly 12,000 olive trees planted throughout their property.
