Creekside Estate Winery
Viognier Reserve VQA
Creekside Estate Winery opened in 1997 in small-town Jordan, Ontario. The Winery is run by a passionate (some say fanatical) group of industry veterans who have decades of experience.
Viognier will always be an exotic rarity in Niagara -- it needs a very warm site in October to ripen properly. Our tiny, perfect Vio block in sunny Niagara-on- the-Lake was originally planted to service our flagship Broken Press Syrah/Viognier red wine but we noticed very early on that the varietal wine was a stunner too. Year-in year-out those vines deliver the goods, and we can make another small batch of the ‘‘delicious impossibility’’ that is Viognier.
Creekside's annual limited production of a seriously big white wine. The nose boasts loads of peach/violet essence with floral and tropical notes. The palate is full and creamy with subtle backbone of citrus acidity. Rich and creamy on the palate with flavours of peach, starfruit, delicate critrus, honey and vanilla and allspice.
100% Viognier grapes were harvested from our Queenston Road Vineyard in St. David's Bench, Niagara on October 18th, 2013. The grapes were very gently pressed and later racked to barrel for fermentation and aged for 9 months on the lees. Blend is composed of 7 barrels, and all 2 year old oak. No malolactic fermentation.
